Brand Finance Settings - Operations Guide

1. Significance & Business Context

Management Frequency: Operations staff and Brand Managers should review these settings at least once a week or during onboarding to ensure financial routing is accurate and compliant.

Why does this page exist?
The Brand Finance Settings page is the financial heartbeat for every brand on Give.Gives. Whenever an item attached to this brand is sold, the revenue is automatically split according to the rules defined here. This page governs three critical components:

  1. Revenue Split: Dictates exactly how much of the sale goes to the platform (fixed 20%), how much goes back to the brand (merchant share), and how much is donated to charity.

  2. Impact Routing: Controls where the charitable portion goes. Directing funds to specific, time-bound campaigns or trusted partner Organizations is the core value proposition of Give.Gives.

  3. Payout Destinations: Stores the banking details necessary to physically transfer the "merchant share" back to the brand.

Why are the specific actions important?

2. Impact Routing

This ruleset decides where the "Organization Impact" percentage flows. The system follows a strict hierarchy to ensure funds are handled automatically:

  1. Default Campaign (Highest Priority): Select a specific campaign. Campaigns have built-in validity controls based on two factors:

    • Date Range: The campaign is only active between specific start and end dates.

    • Donation Goal (Amount Limit): The campaign automatically becomes inactive once it reaches its fundraising maximum.

    • Rule: As long as the selected campaign is valid and active, all impact share flows directly to it.

  2. Fallback Organization (Secondary Priority): Select a partner Organization.

    • Rule: When a Default Campaign ends (either by date expiry or by reaching its financial limit), the system automatically routes all future impact shares to this Fallback Organization. Because this failsafe is automatic, operations staff typically do not need to manually configure new settings once a campaign concludes.

  3. General Pool (Lowest Priority):

    • Rule: If neither a Campaign nor a Fallback Organization is selected, the impact share is collected into the platform's general reserved charity fund.

3. Finance Settings

This section manages how the brand physically receives its money.

4. Saving and Security

Because this page alters financial flows, it is protected.

  1. Click "Save" at the bottom of the page.

  2. A security dialog will prompt you to enter your account password.

  3. Upon successful verification, the new financial and routing rules take effect immediately for all subsequent transactions.
